PUTRAJAYA: Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa today put to rest all speculations regarding who would replace him. He has tweeted that Treasury secretary-general Datuk Seri Dr Ismail Bakar would be the next Chief Secretary to the Government, accompanied with pictures of him with his successor. "I have passed to @ismailBakar60 (Ismail) the handover of duties note, who will be the 14th Chief Secretary to the Government. Congratulations and all the best DS (Datuk Seri)," he tweeted at 2.07pm today. Ali's contract ends tomorrow. Ismail, who has been with the public service for 32 years, has vast experience in financial and economic management throughout his career. He also held other key positions including as the Agriculture and Agro-based Ministry secretary-general, Transport Ministry secretary-general, the National Budget director at the Finance Ministry and a senior adviser at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, the United States. Ismail holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) from Universiti Malaya, Masters of Business Administration and PhD in Economics, both from the University of Hull, United Kingdom.
