James Reid appointed as the new ambassador for Food Security

28 May – James Reid has recently been appointed the new ambassador for Food Security of the Department of Agriculture.

The news was shared by the actor himself on Instagram with a photo of him holding on to a pot of plants, writing, "LETS GROOOW. Thank you to the Department of Agriculture and Secretary [William] Dar for trusting me with the role of Ambassador of Food Security. Thanks for the gift."

"Can't wait to show everyone what we've been working on during quarantine!" he added.

According to the Department of Agriculture's official Facebook account, Reid is tasked to inform the public on the main advocacies of the Department, specifically its campaign on ensuring sustained food security, food accessibility and affordability; and encourage the youth and other advocates on the important roles of farmers and fishers, their hard work, and their valuable contributions to the country.

"It is my honour to use my voice to support the farmers and fisherfolks of the Philippines... For me the farmers and the fisherfolks are the backbone and heartbeat of our economy. So I would like to encourage the younger generation to be more involved and support the farmers and fisherfolks," said Reid.
