Jane de Leon is the new Darna
18 Jul – ABS-CBN recently announced that it has finally chosen a new Darna months following Liza Soberano's departure from the female superhero project.
As reported on Push, ABS-CBN Films managing director Olivia Lamasan revealed that the network has cast 20-year-old actress Jane de Leon after auditioning hundreds of potential stars.
"Our Darna story is a genesis story, a coming of age story. The requirement really is somebody who is young and with an air of innocence, but at the same time shows strength of character," she said.
"Darna" director Jerrold Tarog also praised the young talent for her uniqueness, saying, "I saw her in "Halik", and I said, this kid here, there is something about her."
A former member of GirlTrends, de Leon has worked on several films and TV shows like, "Walwal" and "Ipaglaban Mo".
