Japan urges China to take concrete action on Uighur issue

TOKYO (Reuters) - Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi asked China to take concrete action over issues concerning the Uighurs, the top Japanese government spokesman said at a briefing on Tuesday.

"I've heard that Motegi expressed deep concerns over the human rights issues in the Xinjiang region, and asked China to take concrete action on the matter," spokesman Katsunobu Kato said, when asked about a call between the foreign ministers of Japan and China that took place on Monday evening.
