Jay Chou addresses criticism to lyrics of new single

21 May – Jay Chou has recently addressed criticisms regarding the lyrics for his new song "If You Don't Love Me, It's Fine", saying that he was only trying to write a more light-hearted song.

As reported on China Times, Jay, who dropped his aforementioned single back on 14 May, was criticised for his self-written lyrics that is said to be too old-fashioned, with fans even going on to request a rewrite from Jay's favourite lyricist Vincent Fang, who has written a lot of Jay's songs like "Hair Like Snow" and "Nocturne".

Speaking to the media at a charity event recently, Jay said that fans should not be too serious about the whole thing, or to bother Vincent with rewriting the lyrics.

He also took to Instagram to respond to the issue, saying, "There is no need to be too serious when listening to a song. I have written a lot of thought-provoking songs, so why not write a light-hearted song this time around? Kids like the title of my song. #ifyoudon'tlovemeit'sfine."

On the other hand, Jay, who didn't release any new album last year, revealed that he will not be able to attend this year's Golden Melody Awards - not because he is not nominated, but because he will be going on his tour in Fuzhou at the same time.
