Jay-Z, the legendary rapper whose real name is Shawn Carter, was accused in a lawsuit of raping a 13-year-old girl at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards alongside the disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.

The bombshell allegations were revealed after Carter’s name was added to one of several lawsuits filed over the last year from alleged victims of Diddy, the founder of Bad Boy Records.

Diddy is also facing federal charges for sex trafficking and racketeering, and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center awaiting a trial in 2025.

The suit was originally filed in October by Tony Buzbee, the Texas attorney who has filed multiple lawsuits on behalf of alleged victims of Diddy dating back decades.

In a lengthy statement sent to the Daily Beast, Carter, 55, called the allegations levied against him “idiotic” and vowed not to give the plaintiff “ONE RED PENNY.”

Diddy has previously denied all accusations against him.

“The pleading speaks for itself,” Buzbee said in a statement to the Daily Beast. “This is a very serious matter that will be litigated in court.”

In the suit, which was first filed in October, an unnamed woman accused Combs—and now Carter—of drugging and raping her at an afterparty for the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.

The plaintiff, identified as Jane Doe, tried to get into the VMAs at Radio City Music Hall that year without a ticket, according to the lawsuit. Although she was unsuccessful, a limousine driver later offered her an invite to an afterparty with celebrity guests.

According to the complaint, the driver told her she “fit what Diddy was looking for.”

At the party, the plaintiff began to feel sick after drinking a small portion of a drink she was offered, the suit states. She found an empty bedroom to lie down in, but was soon interrupted when Combs entered the room with Carter and another female celebrity. Combs allegedly approached her and said “you are ready to party!”

The suit alleges Combs and Carter raped her, while the unnamed celebrity, named only as Celebrity B, watched. The teenager was able to escape the bedroom after punching Combs in the neck, then escaping from the house to a nearby gas station. An attendant at the gas station allowed her to use a phone, which she used to call her father to come pick her up.

News of the amended civil complaint was first reported by NBC News Sunday night.

In his statement, Carter also lashed out at Buzbee, calling a demand letter he previously sent to the rapper a “blackmail attempt.”

“What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle,” an irate Carter said in the statement. “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”

Carter expressed support for what he called the “true victims in the world,” imploring his accuser to file a criminal case rather than a civil one.

He also said the lawsuit would ultimately harm his own three children, who he shares with his wife, pop star Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.

“My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people,” Carter wrote. “I mourn yet another loss of innocence.”

Buzbee shot back at Carter on social media, accusing the rapper of trying to “bully and harrass” both himself and the alleged victim.

In November, an anonymous male celebrity filed a lawsuit against Buzbee in Los Angeles, claiming he was trying to “extort exorbitant sums,” CNN reported at the time.

On Sunday, Buzbee claimed that Jay-Z was the one responsible for the lawsuit, accusing the rapper of filing it under a pseudonym.

Buzbee, however, acknowledged that Jay-Z denied being the anonymous celebrity in question.

A representative for the rapper did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the allegations.
