Joe Scarborough Scolds Trump Supporters For What They're 'Deliberately' Doing
“Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough shamed Donald Trump supporters for “deliberately choosing lies” as the former president intensified baseless ballot fraud claims before the November election. (Watch the video below.)
“People go, ‘I don’t know what to believe because Donald Trump says this, but then I turn on this cable news channel that’s lying for 24 hours a day on the right, and they tell me that what he’s saying is the truth.’” the host said.
Scarborough then directly addressed those people: “You know what the truth is, and you deliberately choose lies. You know where the light is, and you deliberately choose the darkness. ”
.@JoeNBC calls out MAGA supporters for "deliberately" choosing election lies:
"Am I saying this because I think Trump’s ever going to change his tactics? No, he knows he’s lying... I’m saying this for the people who actually continue to spread his lies and know differently." pic.twitter.com/lVYCQwGmDE— Morning Joe (@Morning_Joe) September 9, 2024
Trump has been regurgitating claptrap about the “skulduggery” of the 2020 results and cynically threatened to jail anyone who tries to rig 2024 to sow doubt before the voting even begins. The former president, who debates Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday, warned without evidence on Truth Social that the swing state of Pennsylvania will fall to the Democrats if they are “allowed to CHEAT.”
“I hope you watch for voter fraud,” Trump told North Carolina supporters in a clip shown by the MSNBC show. “It starts early. ... Watch for the voter fraud, because without voter fraud, we win so easily.”
In response to Trump revisiting falsehoods of yore, Scarborough pushed back with a fact check.
He mentioned the government cybersecurity director who called 2020 the “most secure election on record” (and got fired by Trump for saying it). Legal challenges brought by Trump and allies failed to stand up in dozens of cases, the host added, and GOP voting officials in several states attested to the authenticity of the results. “And yet the lies continue,” Scarborough said.
