John Barrowman is a staple on our TV screens at the moment, given he's now a judge on Dancing On Ice following the departure of Jason Gardiner. The stage and screen star has settled right in on the judging panel, but that's not the only big role for him currently.
That's because John has reprised his popular Doctor Who role after many years away from the main series.
John's character Captain Jack Harkness made an appearance in a brand new episode last night (26 January), helping The Doctor's companions get out of a spot of bother.
Jack was introduced into Doctor Who in 2005 and appeared on the series until 2010. From 2006 until 2011 he also fronted spin-off series Torchwood. Since then, John has kept his Whovian character alive by giving his voice to audio dramas and attending fan conventions but it's been a while since we've seen him on screen in the role.
But will Jack be a consistent character now he's properly back in the Doctor Who universe?
Speaking to Radio Times, John said of his guest appearance:
"But without quoting a line, he says to... — it's been a while since I filmed it so forgive me for not knowing exactly off the top of my head — he says 'I'll be watching – if she needs me, I'll be there,' is kind of his last line.
"So it's kind of left on a cliffhanger to see what happens. You can read into it all you want, but I'm not saying a thing. Well, I mean if they ever ask Jack back, like I said I'll come back at the drop of a hat."
That sounds rather promising.
For now, we'll have to make do with seeing John on the Dancing On Ice panel, but perhaps we'll be seeing Captain Jack in the tardis again soon.
