Tired of having your laundry out for days on end hanging over driers, chairs and radiators? We feel you.
If, like us, you find laundry more of a challenge in the winter months when you don’t have the option of hanging fresh linen outdoors and don’t want to rack up a huge energy bill with the tumble dryer, we may have found a solution: John Lewis & Partners 3-Tier Heated Indoor Clothes Airer.
Why we rate it
John Lewis’ 3-Tier Heated Indoor Clothes Airer is a handy gadget to help get your laundry dry fast, plus it claims to be slightly more energy saving than a tumble dryer.
The indoor airer, which costs £100, must be plugged into the mains when using, as this will heat up the aluminium alloy to 40-50°C.
It is described on the website as being sturdy, yet lightweight, and it is foldable, which makes for easy storage.
The airer has three tiers, as well as four hooks, so you can fold clothes or towels over the rungs, while also hanging underwear, or even slippers over the hooks, so you can utilise the space more efficiently.
Each shelf can hold up to a maximum weight of 5kg.
One thing to note: John Lewis has stressed not to place delicate garments on the heated airer.
What the reviews say
The 3-Tier Heated Indoor Clothes Airer has received a number of five star reviews from shoppers, with some even claiming to have ditched the tumble dryer in favour of this.
Here’s what they say:
“It's amazing, dries washing really well, no condensation in the house, ordered another one. Well worth the price. Shoe dryer is excellent. Don't need the heating on, warms the house up.”
“Love it! It does what it says on the box. Heats up to warm, not hot. Safe for putting delicates on and it dries your clothes overnight.”
“This is an absolute life saver. Moved to a new house without a tumble dryer and decided to buy this. It dries things quickly and well - we cover the entire thing with a flat sheet once the washing is hung up as recommended to help avoid any heat loss. Wish we'd known about electric airers years ago - we won't be going back to a tumble dryer now.”
“I don't have a tumble dryer (just a washer/dryer) so my clothes never come out fully dry even after three hours on dry. I have a husband and two small kids so I am washing daily. My first washing load I put in the machine to dry for 40 mins. It came out warm but damp. Hung it straight on this dryer and it was ready to put away in three hours.”
“This airer is brilliant. Strong, lightweight, takes a full load of washing, dries in a few hours and clothes less creased than when dried in a tumble dryer.”
