On April 29 YouTube announced, via their blog, that the beatification ceremony of Pope John Paul II will be streamed live on the video sharing site.

The Beatification Ceremony marks the third in four steps of an individual's canonization process; upon completion of the four steps that individual is then declared, when deceased, to be a saint.

The Beautification Process of John Paul II will take place on May 1 at 9:00am CET (GMT+2) and will be available to watch live on YouTube via http://www.youtube.com/live .

YouTube also has a page dedicated to the ceremony which can be accessed via http://www.youtube.com/johnpaul2.

On April 29 the channel provided live coverage of another major ceremonial event, the marriage of heir to the British throne Prince William to his fiancé Kate Middleton. The wedding is still on YouTube and is available to watch via: http://www.youtube.com/theroyalchannel
