John Woo's "The Crossing: Part 2" focuses on tragedy

24 Jun - The second and final part of John Woo's epic two-part film, "The Crossing", set to release in the upcoming month, will focus more on the disaster of the Taiping steamer.

As reported on ECNS News, after setting up the characters and situations in the first movie, Part 2 of Woo's tragic romance film, which he dubbed his best yet, will depict the sinking of the steamer and its impact on the characters.

The first movie, released last year, was harshly criticised for not showing enough of the steamer despite it being highlighted in the promotions.

It also raised questions as to whether it was necessary for Woo to split the movie into two parts.

"The Crossing" boasts a star-studded cast that includes Zhang Ziyi, Takeshi Kaneshiro, Song Hye-kyo, Huang Xiaoming, and Tong Dawei.

It was also Woo's first project after recovering from laryngeal cancer.

The movie will be released in Malaysia on 30 July, and Singapore on 27 August.
