Johnny Depp Is 'Absolutely Not' Engaged to Yulia Vlasova, Source Says After Model Posted Ring Emoji

The actor is casually seeing the model, an insider confirmed to PEOPLE this week

Johnny Depp is “absolutely not” engaged to Yulia Vlasova, a source confirms to PEOPLE after the model posted a photo with the engagement ring emoji on her Instagram Stories last week.

Speculation and questions about the couple’s relationship status were raised after the 29-year-old model shared the image of her meal with a glass of champagne taken aboard a plane last Thursday, July 11. The image also included the ring emoji, posted over the champagne.

That same day, Depp and Vlasova were photographed together at a heliport in London.

A source previously told PEOPLE on July 15 that Vlasova and the Pirates of the Caribbean actor, 61, are currently keeping their relationship "casual" and that "they see each other here and there."  The source also confirmed that the couple have not used “boyfriend-girlfriend” labels yet.

Vlasova posted photos of herself with Depp on Instagram on July 16. The photos showed the model close to the actor and even called him "incredibly talented and inspiring." The photos have since been deleted from Vlasova’s social media, but were obtained by the Daily Mail.

Prior to his relationship with Vlasova, Depp dated lawyer Joelle Rich after his Virginia defamation trial with his ex-wife Amber Heard in April 2022. Rich was one of the lawyers that represented him in a different libel lawsuit in the U.K. A source at the time said the relationship was "not serious" and PEOPLE confirmed that the couple called it off in November 2022.

Back in May, an insider revealed to PEOPLE  that Depp was not, at the time, exploring any romantic relationships since he was "really too busy." That insider claimed that Depp was "prioritizing his health and wellbeing much more these days" while living in London.

"There’s a lot of good energy, and he surrounds himself with a good group of people,” the insider continued. “There’s a lot of good distractions, so there’s not that much time to be reminiscing on that darker period. There’s been a release of the old and embarking on this new chapter. He’s feeling better about where he is in life."
