Mass Rapid Transit Corp Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the public inspection for the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) between Johor Bahru and Singapore will be implemented virtually.

This is in view of the re-implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in several states including Johor as well as federal territories such as Kuala Lumpur, reported The Edge.

To run from 15 January to 15 April, the public inspection is a requirement under the Land Public Transport Act 2010’s Section 84.

During the three-month exercise, information relevant to the RTS Link project like the station site context plan, alignment plan and profile, rolling stock and details on land that may have to be acquired to make way for the project, will be available for public viewing.

Members of the public can view all documents and materials regarding the project on the company’s website at www.mymrt.com.my.

The public can provide feedback or file objections using the online public objection form on MRT Corp’s website.

MRT Corp had intended to open two locations for physical public inspection – at the Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD) headquarters and in KOMTAR JBCC in Johor Bahru.

“Although these locations cannot be opened for now, MRT Corp will open these locations to the public once the MCO is lifted. MRT Corp will make an announcement when the locations can be reopened,” it said.

The RTS Link is a 4km railway shuttle link between Singapore’s Woodlands and Johor Bahru. Notably, 2.7km of the link will be in Malaysia while the other 1.3km will be in Singapore.

The line’s civil infrastructure works set to be completed by 2024, while the train services are slated to commence by end-2026.
