Johor MB slams Kit Siang for alleged neglect of Gelang Patah constituents

PONTIAN: It is unfair for the people of Gelang Patah to have an elected representative like Member of Parliament, Lim Kit Siang, who cannot place focus on his own constituency, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said today.

He said that the DAP adviser should not take for granted that his constituency is in an urban area and that the people can solve all of their pressing issues by themselves.

"When I visited Gelang Patah, I saw many issues and problems. That's why the constituents miss their 'wakil rakyat'.

"There are many issues which their wakil rakyat should give input on, but he has failed to do so," Khaled said after launching the Rural Johor Wi-Fi Project at Dewan Homestay Kampung, Puteri Menangis, near Pontian here.

Khaled, who is Johor Barisan Nasional chairman, was speaking about the official visits he has been conducting to all Parliamentary constituencies in the state, which he started last year.

Pontian is the 20th Parliamentary constituency he has visited.

Khaled said constituencies such as Gelang Patah, Johor Baru and Pasir Gudang are urban areas that have more than 100,000 voters each.

Khaled said that Lim has failed to serve his Gelang Patah constituents.

"It is unfair to have a wakil rakyat who cannot concentrate and focus on his seat.

"I believe Gelang Patah constituents are wise and will not repeat their mistake," he said, referring to voters who elected Lim as Gelang Patah Member of Parliament in the last general election.
