GELANG PATAH: A group of Pas supporters here are rallying behind their party president, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, over his decision to sever all ties with the DAP, as the party does not support Pas' struggles.

The group's representative, Hairy Rizwan, said in addition, parties that continue to cooperate with the DAP are effectively “backstabbing” Pas and failing to uphold Islamic teachings which form the basis of the party’s struggle.

"When Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang decided to sever ties with DAP and the betrayer, Parti Amanah Negara, we supported it 100 per cent.

"We agree if our party president wants to sever ties (even) with parties (only) linked to the DAP," he said after a small gathering of Pas supporters outside Masjid Jamek in Jalan Mentimun, Gelang Patah, here today.

Hairy said PKR and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) were backstabbing Pas, even as they ae trying to reach out and woo the party.

He said he and other Pas grassroots members in the Gelang Patah parliamentary constituency had helped in the machinery that led to DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang winning the seat in the last general election.

But they have since been disappointed with the actions of the DAP supremo.

"Today, we express our regret and hatred towards this enemy of the Malays, after helping him to win.

"It is clear that Lim Kit Siang turned his back on the Malays and backstabbed Pas," said Hairy.

On Jan 27, Hadi said that Pas has shut its door to any possible cooperation with DAP in the future, because it has not shown any proof of supporting the party's Islamic cause.

Hadi said the decision was made as a matter of principle, because the DAP is still against Islam and the formation of an Islamic government.
