Singapore’s Olympic hero Joseph Schooling has signed a three-year partnership with DBS Bank, in his second commercial deal in a week.

The 22-year-old swimmer will be reaching out to the young through community activities and social media engagements to encourage them “to overcome their challenges and forge their own paths to success,” said DBS in a press release on Monday (2 April).

Schooling said, “Together with DBS, I want to inspire the next generation of Singaporeans through my journey to not just work hard but live life to the fullest.”

Last Monday (26 March), Schooling, who was pursuing a business degree at the University of Texas, announced his first deal with luxury fashion brand Hugo Boss after he turned professional. The financial details of the deals with Hugo Boss and DBS weren’t specified.

To prepare for Schooling’s career beyond swimming, DBS will also partner with him in exploring opportunities in the wealth management industry. These include arranging internships and mentoring sessions for Schooling whenever his training schedule permits.

Schooling was only able to sign the deals recently after he swam his last collegiate race in the US on 24 March as university sports rules in the United States do not allow commercial sponsorships.
