Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria And More Thank Kavanaugh Accuser For Speaking Up
Celebrities and activists are thanking the woman who recently accused Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault in a heart-wrenching video.
“We know how difficult it is to stand up to powerful people. We want to thank you for publicly sharing your story of sexual violence,” actress Kelly McCreary begins the video.
The two-minute video published Wednesday is addressed to Professor Ford, referring to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, who goes by the name Christine Blasey professionally. Blasey on Sunday accused Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her in 1982 when the two were at a high school party.
“The behavior you described was wrong and runs directly counter to upholding the law and promoting justice. He should not be confirmed,” the women in the video say.
The video features big-name actresses like Julianne Moore, Eva Longoria, America Ferrera, Gabrielle Union and Amber Tamblyn.

“We can also imagine how shocking and overwhelming it must have been to have your truths shared on a national stage without your permission,” the women continue, reading a joint letter. “You should be the only decision-maker about how your story is shared, if ever.”
Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings concluded last week, but the vote was postponed to schedule a hearing on Blasey’s accusations. The judge has agreed to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee on Monday. Blasey, however, has not committed to testifying, asking that the FBI investigate her claims first.
“We applaud your courage in coming forward for the public good, and we will be with you as you face the inevitable backlash,” the video concludes. “Millions of us have your back. You and your testimony are credible. We believe you.”
