Netflix's The Sandman has a new trailer, and it looks wild

Sometimes it can feel as though there's just too much good TV, and not enough time to binge it all. And then a brand new amazing gets released and somehow we all find the time. Well Netflix's upcoming fantasy drama The Sandman is definitely one of those to find the time for.

The series, adapted from the Neil Gaiman book of the same name, has been long-awaited by fans of the novel and ever since the unreal cast list was released the project has attracted a whole load more excitement. Well, now that we have a first look and a full cast list it's probably time to get stuck in, right?

Is there a trailer for The Sandman?

There is, and it looks sinister af. Along with the trailer - which you can watch above - Netflix recently released a teaser for its upcoming Geeked Weekend 2022, which includes more snippets from The Sandman, including our first look at Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer. She crops up from 1:42, if you'd care to take a peak:

What is The Sandman about?

As in Neil Gaiman's novel, The Sandman follows an ethereal being called Dream, or Morpheus. The personification of dreams, he has existed since the beginning of time alongside his fellow Endless beings – Destiny, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium and Destruction.

After Dream is captured and imprisoned by a mortal wizard, he escapes and sets off on a mission to restore order to the kingdom.

Who has been cast in The Sandman?

This cast is something. Tom Sturridge stars on the lead role as Dream, alongside Game of Thrones stars Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer, and Charles Dance as Roderick Burgess.

Narcos star Boyd Holbrook stars as The Corinthian, Jenna Coleman (The Serpent) as Johanna Constantine and Kirby Howell-Baptiste (Killing Eve) as Death.

What is The Sandman's release date?

At long last, Netflix have revealed a release date for The Sandman. All 10 episodes will hit Netflix on 5th August, which means we don't have long to wait until they arrive!
