As though we needed any more convincing that true style power lies in restraint, Kaia Gerber stepped out in Malibu with Aussie actor Jacob Elordi in what might be considered the ideal all-black look for a warm California day. The young model has proven her penchant for a pair of simple black trousers, and these don't disappoint. They're a reminder of look four from The Row's recent spring '21 collection, an ensemble so perfect it now lives in our heads rent-free.

She effortlessly pairs this pair of roomy, high-waisted pants with flat Celine black loafers with subtle gold hardware. Loafers are enjoying a moment, and this is one of the best marketing pitches we've seen so far for the trend. The word smart instantly comes to mind, and who doesn't want to look smart?

To keep the ensemble feeling young and not so workwear focused, the supermodel daughter and book club enthusiast wore a cropped, thin-strapped black tank by new brand Eterne. Founded by stylist Chloe Bartoli and entrepreneur Adam Bernhard this year, Eterne sells all its black, white, and gray T-shirts, tanks, thermals, and bodysuits via its website for prices ranging from $60 to $125. All pieces are made in Los Angeles from a blend of cotton and modal—and the brand already counts Emily Ratajkowski and Hailey Bieber as fans.

The final finishing touch on Gerber's look is a small, classic silver watch—which just reinforces the message that investing in those key pieces with staying power is the key to style success.
