Kate Garraway has revealed she had plans to renew her wedding vows with husband Derek before he contracted coronavirus.

Last week, the Good Morning Britain presenter shared that Derek had been rushed to hospital, where he is now in intensive care battling the virus.

The couple have been married since 2005 and planned to renew their vows this summer, but with Derek's health now an uncertainty, getting him back in fighting shape is naturally their main priority.

"We’d planned the wedding for the end of summer, but I don’t suppose we’ll be booking anything now because we don’t really know what we can do," Garraway told The Sun's Fabulous magazine.

"The wedding is something wonderful to look forward to when this is all over. That’s what we’re trying to do – think of all the good things."

On how she's been coping during the coronavirus pandemic, she said: "When Boris Johnson said. 'People are going to lose loved ones before their time', it was a powerful thing to say, because you instantly didn’t think of numbers and statistics, you thought of your loved ones.

"I feel better for being cautious. It feels like, day by day, the world is changing."

At the time of the interview, Garraway thankfully stated that she hasn't been experiencing any symptoms of the virus.
