Kate Middleton Will Receive the Majority of Queen Elizabeth’s Jewelry Collection—But There’s a Catch

The royal family has been sorting through Queen Elizabeth’s affairs ever since she passed away at age 96. They already confirmed that her corgis have found a new home, but the world is wondering what will happen to Her Majesty’s jewelry collection.

Kate Middleton will reportedly receive the “lion’s share” of Queen Elizabeth’s accessories. However, King Charles’s wife Camilla Parker Bowles (aka the Queen Consort) will get to pick first.

Royal expert Katie Nicholl explained the “pecking order” in an interview with Marie Claire. “There is a hierarchy in all of this,” she said. “The Queen Consort, really, gets first choice of the Queen’s jewelry. And after that is Princess of Wales, of course, Kate. The Duchess of Sussex, I’m sure, will come in for some jewelry at some point, but she is much further down the pecking order.”

According to Ingrid Seward (editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine), these plans were “sorted and organized by the queen some time ago.” She also noted that Bowles will likely take multiple pieces because “she will need a large collection to support her constitutional role.”

Queen Elizabeth’s jewelry collection is reportedly worth billions of pounds. Although each piece has its own story, there’s more than enough to go around. Prior to her death, the monarch regularly loaned her jewelry to members of the royal family. Multiple people—like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle—wore pieces from her collection to the queen’s funeral.

We can’t wait for more sightings.
