Kedah homeowner wallops thief, sets fire to his motorcycle

ALOR STAR: A 31-year-old burglar learnt his lesson the hard way when he landed in hospital after getting whacked by a house owner at Taman Angsana, Pokok Sena, last night.

Kota Setar police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rozi Jidin said in the 11pm incident, the suspect entered the premises grounds via the unlocked gate, then attempted to unlock the front door.

However, the 32-year-old homeowner became aware of the burglar’s presence, and emitted a shout – prompting the suspect to flee.

"But the house owner chased after and apprehended the suspect, before giving him a beating.

“He then set fire to the motorcycle the burglar rode to his house on," Rozi said in a statement.

He added that police subsequently detained the suspect and sent him to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for treatment.
