ALOR STAR: Kedah Umno Youth today lauded Pas delegates for passing a resolution to sever ties with PKR.

Its chief, Datuk Shaiful Hazizy Zainol Abidin, said Pas’ move to end its 'tahaluf siyasi' (political cooperation) with PKR was the right thing to do.

"Kedah Umno Youth wish to commend the Pas Ulama, Youth and Muslimat wings (for having the) courage to express their wish to the party leadership to end the ‘tahaluf siyasi' with PKR.

"We believe Pas still commands support, and is capable of moving forward without political cooperation with PKR.

"At the same time, Pas no longer has to be dragged into political crises in Selangor and Penang," he said in a statement.

Shaiful added that Umno Youth also believes that Pas made the right decision in ending its talks with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) for an electoral collaboration to face the 14th general election.

He said PPBM is fumbling, due to its lack of a firm direction, which has led to an exodus of members.

"We totally agree with Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang’s statement that PPBM is a ‘confused’ party which has no clear direction, since it was formed by disgruntled leaders. (It is) not a viable alternative for the Malays," he said.

Shaiful added that Kedah Umno Youth wishes to open the door for a 'muzakarah' (talk) with Pas Youth to discuss matters related to the 'ummah' (Muslim community).

"We believe both youth wings, Pas and Umno, have the capacity to venture into a politically (mature relationship and) engage in talks, despite differing political principles," he added.
