From Town & Country

Over the past week, rumors of a "feud" between Kate Middleton and her neighbor in Norfolk, Rose Hanbury, the Marchioness of Cholmondeley, have continued to simmer. Initially, a report in the Sun claimed that the pair of women, who were once friends, are now rivals, and that Kate told Prince William to "phase her out."

Almost immediately, Richard Kay published a rebuttal in the Daily Mail, in which he reported that not only are the rumors false, but both women "have considered legal action but, because none of the reports have been able to offer any evidence about what the so-called dispute is about, they have chosen to ignore it."

If you're entirely unfamiliar with the Marchioness, she and her husband David Rocksavage, the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley, live at Houghton Hall in Norfolk, just a few miles down the road from Will and Kate's home, Anmer Hall. Given their close proximity, the pair of couples run in the same social circle, and Kate and Rose were previously thought to be good friends.

Now, Kensington Palace has declined to comment on the rumored falling out in a second story in the Sun in which a source says, "It is well known that Kate and Rose have had a terrible falling out. They used to be close but that is not the case any more."

It's not uncommon for Kensington Palace to decline to make a statement about a matter such as this. In fact, the royal family hardly ever comments on rumors about their private lives (see the entire Thomas Markle saga as proof).

So, if they do come out and either confirm or deny the speculation, that in itself would indicate that the coverage of this situation with Rose Hanbury in particular has struck a nerve with the Cambridges.
