PNP Chief Ronald dela Rosa with the family of the kidnap victim Francis Leo Maulion
The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group has rescued a businessman after three months of captivity in Bicol region.
PNP chief PDG Ronald Bato dela Rosa has presented to the media Francis Leo Maulion, a businessman victimized by a five-member kidnap for ransom group in Bicol region.
The PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group rescued Maulion in Ragay, Camarines Sur last March 6.
PNP AKG chief P/SSupt. Glenn Dumlao said the victim was abducted on the 23rd of November last year in Calabanga, Camarines Sur.
The family of the victims initially paid 1.4 million pesos to the kidnappers.
However, the suspects have asked for another ransom worth 1.2 million pesos. This time, an entrapment operation was conducted where the operatives and the kidnappers, armed with high calibre firearms, exchanged fire.
“Iba yung nagbabantay sa safehouse at iba yung kukuha ng pay off, ang nangyari sa pay off area doon nila binuhusan ng tropa na walo at naka high powered firearms sila at nagkaroon ng encounter don and they took the high ground at marurunong dahil yun daw ang training nila, may nagtuturo daw sa kanila na tinatawag na danny sundalo,” AKG Chief Dumlao said.
(Others were guarding the safehouse while the others would go to the pay off area. They were eight of them and were armed with high powered firearms. An encounter took place there, and they took the high ground. They knew what to do. They said that’s how they were trained, and that they were trained by a certain Danny Sundalo.)
Maulion, owner of a poultry farm, gasoline station, and a bakery, said he was in his farm when armed men pointed a gun at him, and forced him to come with them.
The five arrested suspects were the ones who guarded him as they transfer places. There was also a time when he was kept in a house just beside the home of the barangay chairman of Camalig Albay.
“Pinapakain naman po nila ako pero palagi po akong nakatali at tinatakot … papatayin po, pupugutan at puputulan daw po daliri at ipapadala sa pamilya ko,” the victim said.
(They fed me, but they always tie, and scare me. “we will kill you, behead you, maim your fingers and send your body parts to your family. That’s what they always tell me)
General Bato, meanwhile, has expressed anger towards the barangay chairman whom he said might possibly be involved in the kidnapping.
“Anong klaseng kapitan ka? ay p*** tell it to the marines, all the while tinutukan ka baril kaya di ka maka report sa pulis… two months sya don at nakikita nya na lagi mo kausap ang mga abductors nya at guwardya nya e wala ka ginagawa at lokohin mo kami? magkano promise sayo na share mo sa una? dito magkano share mo dapat? anak ng bakang kapitan ka?” said PDG Dela Rosa.
(What kind of a barangay chairman are you? Son of a b*tch! Tell it to the marines. All the while, you are pointed with a gun so you were not able to report to the police. He was there for two months, and he always saw you talking to his abductors. And you even did nothing. So you’re gonna fool us now? How much share do they promised you?)
Authorities are still determining the other motives of the suspects.
PNP is also conducting a pursuit operations against the leader of the group identified as Ronald Cuachin and its two other members also operating the provinces of Quezon, Batangas and Laguna. – Lea Ylagan | UNTV News & Rescue
