Killing Eve: Villanelle’s best looks from season 3
Killing Eve has returned to our television screens after season two of the hit spy drama came to an end last summer.
Despite initially being confirmed to return on 26 April, the BBC announced that the series had been brought forward by two weeks, which delighted fans of the show who are currently stuck at home under lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The new season, which premiered in the UK on BBC iPlayer on Monday 13 April, sees Villanelle (played by Jodie Comer) in multiple costumes that are just as thrilling as the plot itself.
The show stole the hearts of fashion fans from the second they saw the Comer's serial killer twirling in that now-infamous Molly Goddard pink trapeze dress back in season one.
Since then, the costume department has outdone itself and season three looks set to deliver on the fashion front and steer our shopping habits once more thanks to newly appointed costume designer, Sam Perry. “Villanelle obviously enjoys high-end fashion,” Perry told Vogue. “Her sense of style will always be there, even if she doesn’t have the funds.”
Throughout the series, Villanelle’s sartorial choices range from sophisticated tailoring to a clown costume and an Elton John-inspired ensemble the Rocket Man himself would envy. As for the labels, expect cult British brands like The Vampire's Wife, Simone Rocha and Halpern.

The class clown
Villanelle uses fashion to change her personality and hide in plain sight, which is a necessity for her job.
One scene in the new series shows the Russian murderess performing as a clown at a children’s birthday party which, naturally, leaves her audience terrified.
Of course, this no ordinary fancy dress clown ensemble. While Villanelle ensures her outfit includes the essential tropes – complete with a red nose and clumpy shoes – the look gets a high fashion twist with an oversized tulle ruffled collar, a charming checked fascinator and a bright red wig insouciantly styled in two loose buns.
Getting down to business
This look worn by Villanelle exudes sophistication as she declares she is “so much happier” now that Eve Polastri (played by Sandra Oh) is dead while wearing a black tailored blazer layered over a sheer blouse.
The polished ensemble is completed with the assassin’s hair sleeked back in a simple up-do and, of course, a glass of expensive fizz in hand.
Villanelle is no stranger to tailoring, in season two she sported a black trouser suit teamed with a button-up white shirt, black tie and short wig to visit a man who claimed his tie was made by Hermes. Villanelle’s verdict? It was fake but that did not stop her from murdering him with it.
In full bloom
Villanelle has a flair for the theatrical and this season her wardrobe reflects her love for gratuitously expensive, bold and mismatched pieces, which show she has become even more playful and dramatic since we last saw her.
In one memorable scene, the assassin wears a bright blue midi-length gown by The Vampire's Wife that is covered in pink peonies and finished with puffed sleeves and a tiered hem.
The silk pyjama set
It should come as no surprise that Villanelle's pyjamas are made from pure silk. This matching set, which comes from British designer Olivia Von Halle, comes in a lime green shade with pink printed sea creatures dotted all over it.
The trousers are cut in a culotte style while the collared top is short-sleeved.
Mum's the word
Villanelle has thoroughly embraced laid back garb throughout every season of Killing Eve, from her chocolate brown silk robe to that pair of cartoon-themed pyjamas she fled from hospital in.
Her latest off-duty look comes inspired by the 1990s with a pair of denim dungarees, an oversized pink stripy T-shirt and her hair tied in an oversized bow that screams Kirstie Alley in Look Who’s Talking.
The Rocket Woman
The season three trailer for Killing Eve included a brief shot of an homage to Elton John, which we cannot wait to see play out on screen.
Sat against a backdrop of posters dedicated to the singer, Villanelle dons yet another bizarrely brilliant disguise as she trades in her long locks for a cropped blonde wig, a blue turtle neck sweater and beige overcoat. The perfect finishing touch? A massive pair of heart-shaped sunglasses.
