Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are currently on holiday in the Caribbean as the pair reportedly work on their marriage.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star and rapper flew to the Dominican Republic earlier this week after Kim addressed Kanye's mental health in a statement, and Kanye issued a public apology to his wife.

The "focus is on their marriage", a source told People magazine of their break. Meanwhile, another source told TMZ the couple chose a remote location so they wouldn't be bothered by photographers. "The family is staying in what is described as a 'fortress' - an estate that is so remote it's virtually impossible for trespassers to get close," the source said.

Kim and Kanye have been quiet on social media when it comes to their holiday, but the rapper did tweet a picture of seven-year-old daughter North, which was taken at one of his fashion shows back in February.

It's been a difficult few weeks for the family following an emotional speech Kanye gave in his first presidential campaign rally last month, followed by a series of allegations he aimed at the reality star and his mother in law Kris Jenner.

Kanye later issued a public apology to Kim and asked her to forgive him, tweeting: "I would like to apologise to my wife Kim for going public with something that was a private matter. I did not cover her like she has covered me. To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being there for me."
