The Met Gala might be the biggest night for fashion, but it's also hugely momentous for beauty.

So when Kim Kardashian stepped out in her head-to-toe black Balenciaga outfit (complete with head covering), we were excited for the discussion around what statement she was making with the 'In America: A lexicon of fashion' theme, but also gutted that makeup was excluded from the story.

Especially when you consider her iconic 2019 Met Ball look where her longtime makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic and hairstylist Chris Appleton, quite literally made history with their wet look glam.

Thankfully Mario knows we haven't waited two years to see what iconic look he creates next and shared an unmasked picture of Kim on his Instagram.

Unlike Darth Vader, Kim's unmasking is just as beautiful as we imagined and despite not being seen, was actually the perfect compliment to her outfit.

From a visual perspective, Kim's Met Gala look was all about her silhouette. We knew it was her from the curves of her body, something Mario recreated with his makeup.

Her matte sculpted cheeks and jawline were accompanied by a carved out brow an accentuated eye. Just like the Balenciaga bodysuit, Mario used makeup to subtly accentuate the iconic blueprint of Kim's face.

Of course her smoked out eye was paired with a nude lip, no other colour would do.

Ever the professional, backstage shots of Mario show him working hard as ever, despite his work being covered up on the red carpet.

Which means he still paid close attention to Kim's skincare prep, teaming up with La Mer as his partner for the night.

If you look closely you can see how he is applying the moisturiser in certain areas of Kim's face like a highlighter, a trick all natural glow lovers need to try immediately.
