Kim Seon-ho joined by Go Ara, Kim Kang-woo, and Kang Tae-joo in new film Sad Tropics
Go Ara, Kim Kang-woo and Kang Tae-joo have been confirmed in a cast announcement to join Kim Seon-ho in Korean film Sad Tropics.
Kim Seon-ho had earlier been caught in an abortion scandal in October, and was later approved to film for Sad Tropics after leaked texts somewhat rehabilitated his image.
Kim’s co-stars feature experienced actors like Go Ara, known for starring in historical action drama Haechi (2019), and music romance drama Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol (2020); and Kim Kang-woo, who recently starred in mystery thriller film Recalled, and horror film Guimoon: The Lightless Door.
Kang Tae-joo is the only rookie actor among the cast, selected from 1000 people in the audition for Sad Tropics. He had previously acted in fantasy thriller drama Missing: The Other Side (2020), and rom-com drama Hello, Me! (2021). The upcoming film will mark the feature film debut of not only Kim Seon-ho, but also Kang Tae-joo.
Sad Tropics is an action film noir about an aspiring boxer raised in the Philippines. He travels to South Korea to find his father who had abandoned him, and goes on the run after becoming the target of mysterious forces.
Scheduled to begin filming in December, Sad Tropics will be directed by Park Hoon-jung. He is known for award-winning films like The Tiger: An Old Hunter’s Tale (2015) and The Witch: Part 1 The Subversion (2018).
