King attends Aidiladha 'korban' event in Kota Baru

KOTA BARU: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V attended a Hari Raya Aidiladha ‘korban’ event organised by the Kelantan Islamic Religious Council (MAIK) in Panji on Thursday. A total of 70 cows were sacrificed during the event at the Sultan Ismail Petra Silver Jubilee Complex here. The King, dressed in a red T-shirt and black track suit, arrived at the complex about 11.30am. He was accompanied by Kelantan Regent Dr Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra. Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakub, his deputy Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah, Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Sbukri Mohamad and state police chief Datuk Hasanuddin Hassan. Meanwhile, MAIK deputy president Datuk Dr Nik Azlan Abdul Hadi said 30 of the cows were donated by the King, another seven from the Regent while the rest were from MAIK. Nik Azlan said the meat will be distributed to some 2,500 underprivileged people in the state. He said a total of 57 cows were slaughtered last year and were distributed to 2,300 underprivileged people in Kelantan.
