KLH parking attendant brutally beaten by mob for clamping improperly-parked car

KUALA LUMPUR: A parking attendant at Kuala Lumpur Hospital (KLH) was savagely assaulted by a group of men yesterday simply for carrying out his duty.

The incident occurred at 7pm when the parking lot’s management noticed an improperly-parked Perodua Axia which was blocking other cars at KLH’s multi-level parking lot.

The attendant proceeded to clamp one of the car’s wheels, as instructed by the management.

Returning to his car an hour later, the owner of the Perodua Axia was furious that his vehicle had been clamped. In retaliation, he rounded up 10 friends, hunted down the attendant and gang-beat him up mercilessly.

It is learnt that the victim suffered injuries to the head, face, legs and feet.

Dang Wangi district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sukri Kaman said police have managed to trace one of the suspects after a preliminary investigation.

He added that the case is being probed under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
