PUTRAJAYA: Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)’s Runway 2 has been closed until further notice after a Malaysia Airlines (MAS) plane's tyres deflated while landing there this morning.
"Malaysia Airlines flight MH726 from Jakarta had two of its tyres deflate after landing safely at KL International Airport at 7.13am (today).
"Runway 2 at KLIA will be closed until further notice," the airline said in a statement.
It said the plane’s passengers and crew disembarked safely and were transferred to the terminal by bus.
"Their baggage was also sent to the terminal by bus," the statement read.
MAS said it is investigating the cause of the incident involving the Boeing 738 aircraft.
"Due to aircraft shortage, some flights utilising this aircraft will be… operated by the Airbus 330, and we are looking at deploying the Airbus 380 to service (our) Australian routes," it added.
MAS has assured that passengers' safety is its number one priority and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the incident.
