Kenny Dalglish believes Jurgen Klopp has the DNA of Liverpool’s Boot Room dynasty.

Klopp guided the Reds to the Europa League and EFL Cup finals during his first season in charge as well as securing Champions League qualification last term.

But major silverware has eluded Anfield since 2012 while the wait for a league title threatens to tick over into a 28th successive year at the end of this season.

Dalglish was the last man to deliver both across two spells as Liverpool manager and remains a staunch supporter of the former Borussia Dortmund coach.

Speaking exclusively to Yahoo Sport UK, the Anfield legend reaffirmed his belief that Klopp is a perfect fit and embodies the core values of his former club.

“I wouldn’t see any reason why I wouldn’t speak highly of him because he’s fantastic at his job,” said Dalglish.

“He must’ve got some DNA from a Liverpool manager somewhere along the line because I think he fits everything that the football club and its supporters stand for.

“He can relate to the punters, he’s good on the game, he interacts, he’s great at his job on the pitch as well – why would you not want Jurgen here?

“And I don’t see any reason why we cannot look forward with great optimism.”

Klopp, 50, previously signed a bumper six-year contract which will safeguard his future on the red half of Merseyside until the end of June 2022.

A host of Europe’s elite clubs have been linked with poaching for the highly-rated German, including Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in his homeland.

Dalglish, however, remains hopeful that Klopp’s stay at Liverpool is a long-term one and is confident that he will kick-start the club’s trophy-winning haul.

“I hope [the end of] his tenure’s a long, long way off,” he added.

“I don’t know how long that’s going to be, nobody knows how long that’s going to be.

“But I’m sure before the end of his tenure, there’ll be some trophies there on the table for us.”

Dalglish was speaking to Yahoo Sport UK at the premiere of his new film biopic ‘Kenny’ on Wednesday evening.

He added of the feature: “The people who were filming it I knew so I trusted them. I know them. i feel very comfortable with the lads from Pitch International so it wasn’t too bad. But the worst part is doing the red carpet.

“It’s nice that people still come along to see but it’s not really my forte walking down a red carpet. I’d rather be on a green pitch but those days are gone so you’ve just got to get on with it and cope with it as best you can.”

“It’s like the London buses – you get one and the next one comes along right behind it!. The stand was a huge honour, not for myself but for the whole family to have their name linked forever wtih the football club is fantastically humbling for us.

“For me, the movie is just coincidental; it’s come along at the same time. The people at Pitch International very comfortable with thought it woud be a good idea so we started off and went about their work. Unfortunately – or fortunately – it’s come out just a couple of weeks after the stand. I suppose you’re better getting it over and done with.”
