Knife-wielding man arrested after elderly man injured at Teck Whye coffee shop

A dispute among a group men at a coffee shop in Teck Whye ended with one man injured and two others arrested, media reports said on Thursday (13 July). The incident, which occurred on Thursday evening, was captured on video.

In the video, a man holding a pair of knives is being restrained by three men and arguing with one of them. One large knife that he is holding appears to be tainted with blood. An elderly-looking man is seated in the background wearing a blue shirt that looks blood-stained.

Police called to intervene

According to a media report, the police were called to help at 7.39pm. Two men were arrested at the scene – one man, said to 34 years old, was nabbed for criminal intimidation and possession of offensive weapons while the other man, 61, failed to give his particulars.

The injured man, 66, was taken to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital.

According the The Straits Times, the trio were drinking together when a dispute broke out among them. The younger man reportedly left briefly and came back with the knives.

The police are investigating the incident.
