S. Korean tourist hurt after being harassed by Teluk Cempedak monkeys


KUANTAN: A South Korean tourist was slightly injured after being chased by a group of wild monkeys at Pantai Teluk Cempedak here today.

Pahang Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) director Zainal Yusoff said the victim, Pyoeng Seok, 69, is believed to have been chased by the troop at about 11am while walking at the resort alone.

"The victim is said to have walked to Teluk Tongkang next to Teluk Cempedak, not aware of the wild monkeys in tow.

"When the victim glanced back he was startled and tried to flee, but fell on some rocks injuring his head and bruising his hands," he said.

Zainal added that they were informed about the incident at 11.13am and five personnel and an ambulance rushed to the scene.

The victim was given emergency treatment before being sent to a private hospital, he added. -- BERNAMA
