KOTA BHARU: The Raja Perempuan Zainab II (HRPZ) Hospital in Kota Bharu welcomed a total of 19 National Day babies as of Friday morning.
HRPZ II public relations officer, Hashim Mohamed, said seven babies were born from 12.01am to 7am.
“In conjunction with National Day, we held a celebration at the hospital to welcome the newborns at the hospital.
“This has been an annual tradition for the HRPZ Kota Bharu as a gesture of appreciation for being blessed with the birth of a new generation,” he said.
The celebration was officiated by HRPZ Kota Bharu director, Datin Dr Selasawati Ghazali.
Also present was the hospital’s Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department head, Dr Sukri Ahmad.
Meanwhile, one of the new mothers, Aini Fazira Adanan 35, said she gave birth to her son at 12.07am.
“I’m so proud that my son was born on National Day. I plan to give him a name that embodies the whole spirit of Merdeka,” she said. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
