Russia's army is laughing at Ukraine and "hunting" its people because of U.S. President Joe Biden's delay in allowing Ukraine to strike targets inside Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi told The Guardian.

"I think it is completely illogical to have [Western] weapons and see murderers, terrorists who are killing us from the Russian side," he said.

"I think sometimes they just laugh at the situation … It's like hunting them. Hunting for people. They understand that we see them, but we cannot touch them."

The White House's ambiguity "costs lives," Zelensky said, and called on Biden to overcome his long-standing fears about a possible nuclear "escalation" with Moscow.

Zelenskyy "made it clear" that he needs the opportunity to use "powerful" long-range weapons that can hit targets deep inside Russian territory, The Guardian wrote.

The Biden administration had given tacit permission to use American weapons (including GMLRS missiles, but probably not long-range ATACMS missiles) to strike Russian territory near the border with the Kharkiv Oblast, Western media reported earlier.

Biden, under pressure from his advisers and key allies, allowed Ukraine to launch limited strikes on Russian territory with American-made weapons, The New York Times wrote, citing unnamed officials in the White House.

The Pentagon has not yet confirmed this information, noting that "there have been no changes" in the policy of the U.S. Defense Department.
