Kristin Cavallari shares her muscle-building exercise routine: 'Heaviest weights I've ever done'

Kristin Cavallari is making gains.

The Uncommon James founder, 35, took to her Instagram Story on Friday to share a video of herself during a recent gym session, in which she was working on weight lifting with her personal trainer and Klug Fitness founder, Kevin Klug.

“Heaviest weights I’ve done,” the mom of three captioned the video. “Trap bar deadlift 4 sets of 5 at 155 lbs.”

While the Laguna Beach alum may not be the first person one associates with heavy lifting, Cavallari has recently spoken about how she changed up her workout routine to include muscle-building exercises. She told Us Weekly in a recent interview, “I’m really petite. I have no hips. I’m just small. And so if I don’t work out for like a week or two, I feel like all my muscle goes away. So it is about consistency for me.”

Cavallari added of her trainer, “He kicks my ass. He pushes me really hard. He has me actually lifting really heavy weight, the heaviest weight I’ve ever lifted in my entire life. I feel the best I ever have. I feel like I’m the strongest I’ve ever been.”

In June, The Hills star shared an Instagram post featuring photos of herself looking toned in a bikini, as well as older pics of herself when she was thinner. She captioned the pics, “I’ve come a long way from a few years ago and I’m really proud of the progress I’ve made. I don’t even recognize the girl in those other 2 photos... and no, I never had an eating disorder... that was purely stress. I work out really hard and am dedicated to a healthy lifestyle and I think just because I’m a mom doesn’t mean I can’t be proud of my body and be comfortable in my skin.”

In addition to gaining confidence by making gains in the gym, Cavallari appeared on Lewis Howes’s podcast The School of Greatness to talk about how she feels more secure in herself since embarking on a journey of self-love. While she may have appeared confident on Laguna Beach, she told Howes that it was mostly a facade.

"People couldn't believe I was so confident for my age," she recalled. "When I watch it back now, I don't see someone who is confident at all. I actually see someone who is extremely insecure. So it's kind of funny that that's what people saw because I was the one always trying to tear other people down or talking s*** ... and that's an insecurity. That's not being confident. I would have probably given myself a little bit more self-love back then."
