Things are heating up in the local subcompact SUV competition as Hyundai Asia Resources Inc. (HARI) has now brought the Venue to Philippine shores.

As the latest member in its wide stable, the local arm for the Korean carmaker positioned the Hyundai Venue to meet the demands of the younger market, putting it in tight bout with its fellow Korean automaker Kia, which recently brought the Stonic to local shores.

Powering the Hyundai Venue is a Gamma 1.6-liter Multi-point Injection (MPI) gasoline engine that's able to dish out 127 horsepower and 151 Nm of pulling power—add to that the six-speed automatic transmission and you have an efficient city drive powertrain.

The Hyundai Venue wears a wide three-dimensional grille, which combines black and chrome for its mesh design (exclusive for its top variant). Its overall design exudes elegance in a contemporary design like the unique Z-shaped tail lamps and the 17-inch wheel (for the top-grade offer) with asymmetrical spoke design.

On the inside, the T-shaped dashboard design greets passengers with the eight-inch audio infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple Carplay. When backing up, the display doubles as a rearview camera.

Placed at the middle of the console is a three-knob air-conditioning system to ensure that room temperature is within the occupants’ comfort levels.

Apart from that, the Venue gives 355 liters of cargo space when the seats are in the upright position—more space should you fold the rear seats.

Its safety features include six airbags for the top variant (dual front, side and curtain airbags), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) as well as front and rear disc brakes and ISOFIX child seat anchors.

Available in five colors, Denim Blue, Fiery Red, Cosmic Grey, Polar White, and Phantom Black, the Hyundai Venue is priced at P915,000 for the 1.6 GL 6AT and P985,000 for the 1.6 GLS 6AT.
