Lancome launches interactive birthday beauty competition

Lancome is getting playful for its 80th birthday with the launch of a fun new interactive website.

The French beauty brand has launched youarelancome.com, offering users the chance to upload a personal portrait and customize it with stickers and illustrations representing some of the company's most iconic creations over the decades.

The illustrations were created by Parisian artist Leslie David, and range from abstract prints to sketches of perfume bottles and flowers. Each of the pictures was inspired by the Lancome universe and aesthetic, as well as a "French vision" of beauty.

In addition to uploading and creating your custom Lancome beauty shot, you can view the gallery of photographs headed up by the brand's ambassadors Penelope Cruz, Kate Winslet and Julia Roberts, as well as actresses Lupita Nyong'o and Lily Collins, who have all taken part in the fun.

Lancome is adding an element of competition to the game, by offering the face behind the best photo the chance to attend its birthday bash in Paris on July 7. Users can vote for their favorite pictures on the site, though a jury will also have a say in drawing up the shortlist of the best 10 photos, with the finalists set to be showered with gifts in the form of a limited-edition gift bag.

The house kicked off its eighth decade with the launch of an imaginative film directed by Thomas Tyman titled "This is not a rose". Further celebrations include a coffee-table book telling the story of happiness and honouring French beauty, written by Stéphane Guibourgé and featuring illustrations by David Downtown, Vahram Muratyan and Cécilia Carlstedt. To close the year, the brand will launch revamped versions of two classics in the form of a new interpretation of the lipstick "Les Jumelés" (1958), and a jeweled edition of "La vie est belle L'Absolu de Parfum."
