"Langit Cinta" is based on a true story

Director Osman Ali reveals that his latest romantic movie is inspired by his parents' love story

Osman Ali returns with romantic movie, "Langit Cinta".

27 Nov – Director Osman Ali is set to return with his latest movie, "Langit Cinta", which will open in cinemas on 7 January next year.

The movie features a stellar cast that includes Nur Fazura, Keith Foo, Farid Kamil, Siti Saleha, Normah Damanhuri, Datuk Jalaluddin Hassan and more.

However, what makes the Astro Shaw production even more interesting is the fact that it is based on the true love story of Osman Ali's very own parents.

"I got the inspiration to make "Langit Cinta" from the true love story of how my parents met. My mother lived on an island in southern Thailand and it was there that my father met her," said the director to Malaysian Digest.

Osman Ali, who is known as the "tear-jerking director", also said that for his new movie, he focused more on the cinematography.

The movie follows a village girl named Khadeja who longs for true love. She meets Aliff, a young man from a well-off family. However, Aliff's family is against the young lovers' relationship and wants to break them apart.

The director revealed that the movie, which was produced with a budget of RM1.5 million, had a tough filming situation while in Langkawi due to the unpredictable weather causing the filming to be postponed several times.

To keep the filming schedule on track, they had to resume filming as soon as the weather cleared up.
