Lawrence Ng says he is proud to be a part of China

22 Aug – Hong Kong actor Lawrence Ng recently took to social media to express his concern over what has been transpiring in Hong Kong for the past few months.

As reported on Mingpao, the "Healing Hands" actor posted a long message on Weibo, saying that what happened in Hong Kong in recent days saddened him and that he hoped the riot would calm down as soon as possible.

"I hope that everybody can enjoy a better life," he added.

Said the actor, Hong Kong had been occupied by foreign power for many years, and that he often felt like a second-class citizen whenever he returned to the city in the past.

"When I was studying in the UK, I could sense the arrogance and pride of the British. I was looking forward to Hong Kong returning to China and finally becoming a real Chinese. Although a lot of people were afraid of emigrating, I even moved to mainland China," he said.

Lawrence stated that he has travelled all over the country for the past few years and have lived in many cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

"I have witnessed the flourishing development of the great motherland and witnessed the betterment of the life of the people. As a Chinese, I feel really proud," he said.
