A 10-month-old girl who went missing with her father on Thursday has been found by police.

Merseyside Police launched the investigation on Thursday afternoon but just before 5pm the force confirmed they had located Lyla Rose Wheeler and her father Clifford Wheeler.

They said they had both been found "safe and well" and thanked members of the public for sharing their appeal.

When the police launched the investigation they said Layla was last seen in the area of Wallasey Village in Wirral.

The force said she is believed to be with her father and that they have “concerns for both of their welfare”.

Alongside the appeal, they shared a picture of the missing pair.

Layla is described as having short blonde hair and blue eyes. The photo of her father shows him with short, greying hair.

Although the pair have now been found safe and well we know very little about the circumstances that led to the police searching for them.

We do not know why the police were concerned for their welfare. There is also no information who Layla lives with or any other living arrangements.

Police have not given any information on the age of her father or his background. We currently do not know why he and his daughter briefly went missing.
