A hidden find in Tiong Bahru

My initial reaction when I stepped into this quaint little cafe was that it would make a good place for me to take my wedding photos. Just 8 minutes walk from Tiong Bahru MRT, Le Halo is a picture perfect cosy little “home” for anyone looking for a place to chill out.

The interior of this cafe seats roughly seats about 15 people, so a good way to ensure you have seats upon arrival, do reserve with them earlier. The interior of the restaurant has many playful knick knacks such as postcards for sale, marbles to play with, and a sense of nostalgia from a Singapore 90s childhood.

First up we tried their delicious homemade Eggs Benedict ($14.50) with a runny egg yolk. The lady owner designed the dish in such a way that it is not overly filling, but yet just right in proportion for Asian who want a hearty breakfast.

The eggs benedict is also served alongside with crispy bacon, salad and a pea mash, making the whole plate comes alive. Sour cream sauce also complements well with the eggs, and ham and cheese is sandwiched in this intricately designed breakfast.

This delicious Pork Stew ($11.50) is a favorite amongst customers and is made of herbs including rosemary, and reduced with red wine. This juicy pork stew is aromatic and comforting, with pieces of crunchy toast still fluffy on the inside to provide a satisfying meal. This portion size is great for a light breakfast.

If you are looking for a healthy breakfast, try the Tuna Mushroom Melt ($9.50).

The melted mozzarella cheese with tuna makes this tuna melt more of a “pizza” than just a typical toast. It is not too ‘jelat’, and the rocket leafs compliment the mozzarella cheese with slight leafy crunch and slight bitterness – Rocket leafs taste bitter on its own, but together with tuna and cheese the flavours blend well.

Soft, gooey textures with hits of vegetables won’t make this an overly monotonous dish.

The Rose Cafe Latte ($5.80), has a wonderful taste – a signature drink of Le Halo.

It is light, floral and pairs with the milky coffee pleasantly. The rose latter is definitely a hit amongst the ladies. Matching the rose latter with the Rainbow Lapis cake ($1.80) makes a good way finish off a meal.

I really enjoyed the light meal at Le Halo a lot along with the service provided by the owner. Even though she is pretty much working alone in the store, she is friendly and amicable.

Le Halo is just newly opened but has already won praises from The Food Journal for their signature Eggs Benedict (Award: Best Creative Eggs Benedict). This cafe’s business is off to a good start, and as such I’ll be back with my friends soon.

Expected Damage: $10-$20 per pax
