Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the legacy of Lee Kuan Yew would be preserved in the history of Singapore, giving recognition to his efforts in transforming the republic into a developed, modern and dynamic nation.

Expressing his condolences, Najib said Kuan Yew had made various efforts as the founder and prime minister of the island state for 31 years.

"In addition, his able leadership was well known in the region as well as the world. The world has lost someone who has the ability to contribute concrete ideas in various fields," said Najib, when met by reporters after attending the coronation of the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Almarhum Sultan Iskandar today.

Najib, who is also finance minister, expressed hope that Singapore and Malaysia could look ahead and continue to make history between the two countries in taking the bilateral ties to greater heights.

When asked whether the passing of Kuan Yew would change the political landscape of the two nations, he said that there would not be much change. – Bernama, March 23, 2015.
