Legendary Pictures nets 'Bad Blood' film, starring Jennifer Lawrence

US actress Jennifer Lawrence's movie 'mother!' will hit screens this October

Legendary Pictures has won the battle for hot Hollywood project "Bad Blood," written and directed by Adam McKay, and with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence attached to star.

The film focuses on Elizabeth Holmes (Lawrence), founder of the controversial blood-testing start-up company Theranos which came under investigation for inaccurate testing that took place at their California labs.

Deadline reports that Legendary will pay around $3.5 million for the script to be written by McKay, who just shared a Best Adapted Screenplay Oscar for "The Big Short," with the movie to be allocated a budget between $40 million and $50 million.

Universal will distribute through its deal with Legendary, with the film to be produced by McKay, Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick through their Gary Sanchez company, along with Lawrence.
