Levain Is Bringing Its World-Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies To The Grocery Store
New York City's Levain Bakery will offer its insanely popular, insanely gooey, and insanely perfect cookies in grocery stores starting this fall, according to Bloomberg.
The bakery's cookies will be available at Central Market, a small Texas grocery chain, with more plans to expand nationally soon. They will offer four different types of cookies in stores: chocolate chip walnut, two-chip chocolate chip, dark chocolate peanut butter, and oatmeal raisin. You'll be able to pick up eight two-ounce cookies, which are smaller than the massive ones found in the shops, for roughly $8.
Anyone who has tried Levain's cookies knows that they're what we call in the biz "a big deal." You also probably know that they're known for being soft and deliciously almost undercooked in the middle, something that would be super hard to recreate with a pre-baked cookie. That's why it makes sense that instead of being packaged and put on shelves fully baked, they'll be found in pre-shaped cookie dough in the freezer section.
“Frozen provides the most consistent and salient experience,” says Levain's chief marketing officer Rachel Porges told Bloomberg: “We have yet to find a shelf-stable process that could deliver that for our cookie.”
