Love Island star Paige Turley has a very famous ex-boyfriend, Brit Award winner Lewis Capaldi, and now Capaldi has addressed their relationship live on air.

While collecting his Brit Award tonight (February 18) for Song of the Year for 'Someone You Loved', he confirmed whether the ballad was actually about Paige.

"Contrary to popular belief, a lot of people thought this song was about my ex-girlfriend, who you can now see every night on Love Island," he said.

"But it's actually about my grandmother who sadly passed away a few years ago, and I hope to God ITV don't contact her to join a reality TV dating show."

He then closed his speech with: "Thanks to my mum and dad for, you know, for making love and thanks to my grandmother for... dying... sorry."

As well as Song of the Year, Capaldi also walked away with New Artist of the Year, where his acceptance speech was censored over pre-watershed naughty words.

Keeping things brief and to the point, he simply said: "Thank you very f**king much."

Capaldi previously opened up about Paige's appearance on the show and said he'd be supporting her, and if she wins, he'll happily accept a payout.

"I've known her for years. I was 18 when we first met, then 19 when we started going out and 20 when we finished going out," he said on New Zealand radio station The Edge.

"It was very amicable, the split. She never told me she was going on it. It would have been a nice heads up! But, I mean, fair play, good luck to her."

He added: "I hope she wins. The prize is £50,000, and I'll be like, 'Well, listen, they asked you to go on it, right? I'm not saying I'm the reason but also… slide me two grand'."
