Lexington Police Rescue Deer From Freezing Cold Pool

An officer with the Lexington Police Department was the first responder to an unusual emergency on Monday, January 20, when he arrived to a home in Fayette County to find a deer had become trapped in a swimming pool in freezing conditions.

According to the police department, the temperature was just 18 degrees Fahrenheit (-7 degrees Celsius) when the officer arrived on the scene. The deer was slumped motionless in the pool, with its forelegs reaching over the side.

“With help from the homeowner, the deer was safely lifted out of the pool and appeared to be okay,” the police department said in a post to Facebook. Credit: Lexington Police Department via Storyful
