Liar spoilers follow.

Liar viewers who stuck with the ITV crime drama for a second series have been left somewhat disappointed by tonight's finale (April 6), as Andrew Earlham's killer was finally revealed.

From the beginning of the series, Laura Nielson (Joanne Froggatt) had always been DI Renton's (Katherine Kelly) prime suspect for the murder, and nothing was going to change her mind.

Well, in a dazzling turns of events, Renton happened to be right all along. Laura was indeed the killer.

Following Laura's true accusation of rape against him, Andrew (Ioan Gruffudd) had planned to fake his own death and frame her for his murder. However, what he surprisingly didn't anticipate was getting killed for real.

In one final flashback scene, we saw Andrew lure Laura to the marshes when he planned to drug her, but she didn't fall for his plan and the two of them ended up scrapping in the mud.

After a bit of a wrestle, Laura got hold of Andrew's knife and deftly sliced his throat, prompting him to gurgle, collapse and die.

Despite knowing that she was the killer all along, however, DI Renton was quite happy to let Laura off the hook and instead have Andrew's accomplice Oliver Graham go down for the crime.

The series then ended with Laura going on a date and suggesting she'll go on with life "like none of this ever happened," which, judging by the response of viewers, is exactly what they're going to do, too.

Unsatisfied with the twist being that Laura was the killer all along, one viewer tweeted: "Can't f**king believe I've watched 6 hours.. SIX hours of this for the killer to be Laura Neilson, the person who was accused in the trailers before the programme had even started!"

Another wrote: "So we had 6 weeks of Laura going to extreme measures to prove her innocence and it turns out it was her all along? Should have just done one series, the storyline in the second has been ridiculous."
